The Financial Wellbeing Conference 2026 will be the third edition of Malta’s national conference dedicated to financial capability and wellbeing.

The 2026 edition moves beyond a conventional sequence of speeches and panels. It is being designed as a participatory national conversation in which international evidence, Maltese policy, industry expertise, youth perspectives and the lived experience of citizens are brought together under one central theme: From Access to Trust.

From Access to Trust reflects the next phase of financial capability. Access to bank accounts, apps, information, credit, payments and investment opportunities is important, but access alone does not ensure understanding, confidence or good outcomes. Trust requires credible systems, clear communication, strong safeguards and citizens who can judge information and act with confidence.

Winning this award is something I’ll carry with me for a long time. Investing literacy has for too long been a privilege, something reserved for those who could already afford good advice. My mission, from day one, has been to change that. To bring the kind of guidance that used to sit behind closed doors to everyone: the young professional just starting out, the family trying to make ends meet, the business owner who built a legacy but never learned how to protect it. The Financial Wellbeing Conference is one of the few events where people who care deeply about this subject get to be in the same room.

Participating in the 2025 Financial Capability Conference was an incredibly enriching experience for Mastercard. It provided a powerful platform to share our financial literacy initiatives and engage in vital conversations about digital inclusion. Collaborating with educators and policymakers reinforced our commitment to ensuring that technology acts as a bridge, empowering every individual in Malta with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a modern economy.

Honoured to have received the award for Best Financial Capabilities Project within a non-profit organization with my 'Shark Tank Experience'. The Shark Tank Experience gave students the chance to step into the shoes of young entrepreneurs — developing creative business ideas, pitching them to a panel of "investors," and making real financial decisions in a supportive, hands-on environment. It was all about building confidence and financial capabilities through fun and authentic learning.

It was a privilege to participate as a panellist at the Digital Finance Frontiers Conference and contribute to discussions on the growing importance of digital financial literacy. The conference rightly placed significant emphasis on financial literacy as an essential life skill in today’s increasingly digital world. As financial services continue to evolve through digital technologies and AI, empowering individuals with the knowledge, critical thinking, and digital competences to make informed decisions has become more important than ever. This vision closely aligned with the work of the Directorate for Digital Literacy and Transversal Skills, where we are committed to equipping learners with the skills and confidence to navigate an increasingly digital society responsibly and effectively.
