12 Teams | 12 Pitches – The Innovation Hackathon was a success!

For the last two weeks 60 + StartUp Programme students from the University of Malta and the St Martin’s Institute of Higher Education embarked on the virtual Innovation Hackathon challenge.

The Innovation Hackathon, in its third year running, was organised in collaboration with PwC Malta. Covid-19 has not hindered JAYE Malta from providing an exceptional experiential moment for our students.

12 teams of students guided by 12 volunteers from PwC, Anchovy, JobSquad, B2B and Talking Panda ideated solutions for Sustainable Development Goals related challenges that face our world today. After formulating the ideas each team designed a business model and pitched in 1.5 minutes in front of a 5-member panel with representatives from HSBC, Pwc, Anchovy and Onest, acting also as potential investors.

The SDG themed case studies were based on 5 seleced SDGs:

Kurt Darmanin, Bernard Manché, Emily Sciberras, Nigel Zahra, Amani Knazal where the members of the Innovation Hackathon Winning Team.

The objective of the workshop was ultimately to serve as a platform for the StartUp Programme students to start building their perseverance and confidence in preparation for the StartUp Programme.

We would like to thank all the team, partners, volunteers and organisers for their collaborative efforts and contribution to deliver this experience for our youth!
