STEM fields have long struggled with a gender gap, but programmes like Girls Go Circular (GGC) are changing that. By creating opportunities for young women to learn, connect and lead, GGC is helping girls across Europe discover their passions in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Sofiya Chuzhda describes her journey with GGC: “Being part of Girls Go Circular has shown me that there are people and platforms that truly let young girls in STEM shine. Ever since I first encountered the GGC programme as a participant back in 2023, I have seen the impact of this wonderful project grow exponentially. GGC not only develops girls’ skills through its online learning platform, but also brings top alumni together at the yearly forums. These forums are a vital part of the programme as they connect passionate girls across Europe with each other and with top female talent in various STEM fields, creating an incredible network of current and future innovators.
As a GGC ambassador, I had opportunities to be mentored by inspiring professionals from different fields and make my voice heard at high-profile events. GGC opened the door to amazing opportunities and improved my confidence in myself and my skills. I am extremely excited to be a moderator at this year’s Women and Girls in STEM event and I zealously look forward to meeting all the talented winners.”
Rhythm Garg had a similarly transformative experience: “Girls Go Circular has shown me that STEM is not just about the science, it is about the people. My experience as an ambassador introduced me to an incredible, empowering and supportive community that I know I can always turn to no matter what.
Most of all, it has given me hope. Hope that we can work towards a more equitable world, hope that we do not need to sacrifice the environment to make progress, and most importantly, hope that the future will be co-shaped by passionate, innovative and brilliant young women.
Seeing the immense progress that Girls Go Circular has made in bridging the STEM gender gap in Europe, and knowing that I am part of such a powerful initiative makes me immensely proud. Girls Go Circular’s learning platform and yearly challenges provide a meaningful platform and a voice to young women, helping them carve their own path in STEM and gain invaluable experiences. My time as an ambassador allowed me to benefit from even more opportunities. The events I spoke at, the mentorship I received, and the chance to help shape the future of Girls Go Circular are all experiences that I will always treasure.”
Stories like Sofiya’s and Rhythm’s show that Girls Go Circular is about far more than learning STEM. It is about building networks, boosting confidence and inspiring real change. When young women are given the right support and platform, their potential to innovate and lead is limitless.
Girls Go Circular is not just a programme, it is a movement proving that with opportunity and encouragement, the next generation of female innovators is ready to shape a brighter, more equitable future.
