Most students today will never step inside a boardroom or sit in a senior meeting or see how real decisions at the workplace are made, not because they lack ability or ambition, but because these doors are rarely opened for them at a young age. While the opportunities students chase after often sit behind these doors.
At JA Malta, we see this gap clearly.
Young people are motivated, capable, and eager to learn, but many still struggle to connect education with the realities of the workplace. Leaders for a day is about changing that.
This initiative gives students the opportunity to step inside real organisations and experience leadership in real time-. For one day, they shadow CEOs, directors, and senior managers as they go about their work. They sit in meetings, witness how decisions are made in real time, and learn firsthand how challenges are mitigated, and priorities determined in a workplace.
This year, Leaders for a Day will be held on the 12th and 13th of February 2026, offering students two full days to engage with Malta’s business leaders and experience what happens behind doors they do not usually get to open.
For students, the impact is immediate. They gain clarity on career paths, confidence in their own potential, and a deeper understanding of what leadership looks like beyond job titles. Many leave the experience with renewed motivation and a clearer sense of the skills they need to develop, as the initiative leaves them with context, direction and a perspective that no textbook can provide.
For leaders and organisations, participation is simple: Opening the door for one day creates a space for conversation and shared learning. It is a small time of commitment with a lasting impact, offering leaders a chance to engage with Malta’s new and emerging talent, and reflect on their own work through fresh eyes.
Through Leaders for a Day, leaders across Malta help bridge the gap between education and employment in a practical, human way, as it is not about telling Malta’s sixth form students who to become, it is about showing them what’s possible.
Stemming from our belief that the future workforce is shaped long before the first job offer, and as we continue to prepare young people for the future of work, collaboration between education, industry, and leadership has never been more important. Hence, Leaders for a day is built on this simple idea; when doors open, endless possibilities can flourish.
Leaders and organisations ready to open their doors can register their participation by completing the form below:
