Finding Inspiration, Confidence and a sense of Community with JA Malta

As a teaching facilitator for both the Economics for Success and the It’s Our Planet programmes with JA Malta, I have found a truly inspiring and supportive community that has profoundly impacted my personal and professional growth. The experience of working alongside a diverse group of about 15 facilitators, all delivering sessions in primary schools across Malta and Gozo, has been nothing short of amazing. Our group, which also includes various individuals involved in organising the program, is a vibrant mix of different ages, nationalities, religions, professions, and university courses. This rich diversity has broadened my horizons and has been an invaluable part of my journey.

From the very beginning, the support and encouragement I received from JA Malta has been instrumental in fostering my entrepreneurial spirit. In our initial training sessions, we were introduced to several successful start-ups that originated through JA, including the inspiring story of Happy Pot, started by two Gozitans. These stories ignited a spark within me, giving me the courage to start thinking about creating my own business venture. While I have not yet settled on a specific idea, I am eager to continue exploring and developing my entrepreneurial aspirations, potentially by joining the JA StartUp Bootcamp.

Creativity has always been a significant part of who I am. I enjoy adapting and personalising my work, adding my unique touch rather than simply following the book. This passion for creativity makes the prospect of starting something of my own particularly exciting.

Being part of the JA Malta community has been incredibly fulfilling. Our group’s unity and mutual respect have created a comforting and empowering environment. We have all faced various challenges in our lives, which have made us more mature and relatable to each other. The willingness to listen, the absence of jealousy, and the readiness to help one another, are qualities that make our group exceptional.

This role has also been my first experience working as a teacher, and I must admit that I was initially apprehensive. In the past, I was quite a shy person, particularly in front of crowds. I would have never imagined myself delivering talks to 20-30 students. However, this programme has significantly boosted my confidence in front of an audience, and improved my public speaking skills. Through practice, I have discovered and developed various ways to engage with and capture the attention of my audience.

In conclusion, JA Malta has not only provided me with the tools and inspiration to consider entrepreneurship, but has also surrounded me with a community of like-minded, supportive individuals. I am grateful for this experience, and look forward to what the future holds as I continue to grow within this incredible network.
